If there’s one thing I love, it’s handy tools online or otherwise, that make my life easier. For quite some time now, I’ve been using this more than awesome online search tool called Wolfram|Alpha. The site’s main purpose is “to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone”, which can come in handy in any wide variety of ways. Starting simple, visit their site and put in the year and date of your birth. The result? More information about that day than you probably even knew existed. The same goes for your hometown. Type it in and you’ll get everything from population and rank, to cost of living index, famous people, elevation, and crime rate. If you’re a college student or professional with science or math intensive work, this site is a dream as it gives illustrations of molecules, graphs equations and about everything else in between. I swear, if they had this out when I was in grade school, my teachers would’ve thought I was taking some kind of academic performance enhancer, Mark McGuire style.
Available via the web, iPhone, and now iPad Apps, there’s plenty of ways to get your informational fix, especially when in a pinch. Check it out, it’s definitely time well spent.
